Kenji:
Try this path. Select Tools from the Firefox menu, then choose Add-ons and you'll find Canvas under the Extensions tab. Click Canvas, then the Uninstall button.

I'm sorry you've had a unexpected experience. There is nothing in the code that should allow Canvas to be installed without your consent. So, please give us all the details you can to tell us when and how it occurred so we can review. Your OS (operating system) and version of Firefox will help as well.
You may also want to password protect the admin rights on your computer and not allow other users to install software. It's possible that someone else installed it without your knowledge. The product appeals to people who want to choose their own picture or image to feature in the browser theme. You can also right click on any image on the web and choose "Add background image to Canvas." For a number of reasons, people find it cool.
To uninstall, you should be able to click the Settings button on the far right of the theme toolbar, then choose Uninstall Canvas. Alternatively, you can select Tools from the Firefox menu, then choose Add-ons and you'll find Canvas under the Extensions tab. Click Canvas, then the Uninstall button.
Again, sorry for the inconvenience and please share the details. This should not happen. -

Thanks but I use IE8, not Firefox or Google Chrome? Please advise. Thanks, Kenji

Ah... That's where the curveball is. One of our browser themes is called Canvas and it is specific to Firefox.
The theme you are using should be removable under the Add/Remove Programs in your IE control panel. Because of the graphical nature of our themes, they don't fall under the normal toolbar settings in your browser so you can't just right click and turn it off in IE.
If you still have trouble, let me know and I'll make sure one of our IE developers responds.-
IE8: can't locate anything even similar to the old Add/Remove. Have I done something wrong. There are several programs like weatherbug that NEED deleting! Help appreciated. nancy

Oops. That was a typo. I should have said Windows Control Panel. Click Start and then you should be able to find it somewhere thereafter. Different versions of Windows will have different paths to it.

Josias:
Sorry for the trouble. This should help you...
Look for the "gear" icon in the toolbar, click that, then choose Preferences. In the Preference window, click the Search tab and you can turn off WebSearch+ from the new tab page.
Under Extensions, Personas Interactive is the theme engine for all Brand Thunder themes. You can find a link to Preferences there as well.
If this doesn't work, please let me know. -
-
this doesn't work the same bs is going on with my firefox as well - i want brand thunder out this is garbage
-
-
In firefox, go to Tools-> Addons - Extensions
You will see something called Default Theme Engine - Personas Interactive.
Simply uninstall that extension and you should be fine... -

I am running Chrome on Mac OSX. I disabled Brand Thunder, then clicked the trash can. I still have the MLB logo "stuff" on my browser. How do I get rid of this? Thanks.
-
-
Nevermind. In Chrome, you also have to "reset to default theme" yourself. So much for an "uninstaller included."

David: You raise a fair point. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Every time I open a new tab in Firefix 13 I go to a strange search page (home.brandthunder.com/?newtab&displayLogo=false). I already removed the Canvas add on, but I still get this when opening a new tab.The only gear icon I have is on my amazon toolbar, which I want to keep. If I click that I do not get a preferences option as described above. How do I go back to the firefox new tab defaults and remove this Brand Thunder search thing?

Chet:
Sorry about that. There's a bug with our product and Firefox 13. A fix is rolling out, but depending on where you downloaded Canvas, it may take a bit to get it.
In the meantime, this page will can the issue. http://brandthunder.com/personas/fixn...-
That worked. Thanks a bunch.

This is the biggest load of bullshit, watching you offer fake apologies and excuses every time someone asks the inevitable question, "how do I remove this shit that hijacked my browser?"
I really cannot apologize for my vitriol, as slipping unwanted "functionality" into someone's installation without proper warning, consent, and appropriate and COMPLETE removal, is NOT COOL.
Be straight for once and explain exactly HOW (I know, you have no idea...) to restore proper default Mozilla behavior after "removing" your crapware toolbar. I am sick of my fresh tabs coming up with a dozen social media (read *blight*) charms, which is why I removed teh "product" in the first place.
BE A MAN, KEVIN, AND TELL US STRAIGHT.
Betch can't, can you, you charlatan. =.= -

We do our best to address the issues that are raised. If your's isn't captured in these threads (or if there's too much to filter through), tell us where the sticking points are and we'll help.

i've tried everthing that has been listed here and i still have the same problem. Can't seem to remove or uninstall the brandthunder .the bug is http://home.brandthunder.com/mlbrangers/ and i can't seem to get rid of this mess

What operating system are you using and what browser? Browser is probably the big one. And I'm going to guess you're on Firefox.
If I understand the problem, the Rangers page is coming up when you open new tabs or is now set as your home page?
If it's the homepage, you can adjust under Firefox Preferences, the General tab in the dialogue box and you should see the Rangers URL set as the homepage. You can modify it on that General tab.
If it's coming up when you open a new tab and you still have the theme installed, in the Brand Thunder Preferences, under Search uncheck the Use WebSearch+ on New Tab Pages. That should remove it from the New Tab Pages.
If you've already uninstalled the theme and it's the New Tab Page, I'll have to ask out developers how to fix it. There's a method in Firefox's About:Config settings, but I don't know the exact steps.
Please, let me know if this helps. -

I to have a win xp computer, am using I.E. and cannot find where to uninstall

You may uninstall the theme via the Windows Control Panel.
1. Close Internet Explorer
2. Select Add/Remove Programs or Uninstall a Program from the Control Panel
3. Select the Theme you wish to uninstall
4. Click Remove and follow the prompts
You may also want to look at our Gallery (http://gallery.brandthunder.com) and see if there are other themes you'd prefer. -

Ok, so the employees are deleting my comments for trying to help people out.
It's a simple fix. If you want to restore your New Tab in Firefox...
In order to restore the new tab page manually enter "about:config" into the adress bar, search for the "browser.newtab.url" setting & right-click it in order to reset it to the default value ("about:newtab").
There, no names. Don't delete this if you're actually concerned about the users.
Thanks. -

It's funny, non of the above questions with language were deleted.. only mine with an ACTUAL fix.

I appreciate your posting the instructions for a fix to the Firefox bug, and am sorry about the problem. Truly.
We play in other people's sandbox (the browser) and try to do a lot of different things to create a good experience and revenue as a company. When the rules change in the sandbox, sometimes our stuff breaks. We do try to fix it, but don't always have the most elegant solution available (we understand using about:config but how many do?). We try to simplify the solution.
We also give pretty granular control over the experience. If you explore the settings/options in your respective browser (see I can't even use a single term because they're called different things in different browsers), you'll see all that we offer and all that you can adjust.
We take all feedback seriously and work to improve the product. I'm sorry we failed to meet your expectations, but your feedback is appreciated and I'm sure will influence others.
p.s. I can't address the comment deletion. I don't have the authority to make that request and so was not involved, nor consulted. -

Thanks to DeepThroat for the fix.
Boo on Kevin for the runaround.
You have to wonder when the maker won't tell the truth, and it takes a programmer to let it out.
Keep your idiotic malware out of circulation!! -
