How do i install a theme?

I want to install an avengers theme like the one i saw on the new ie9 commercial. i googled internet explorer themes and this site was the only one that seemed legitimate. i searched avengers, found one and installed it. then i had the file downloaded but couldnt open it or apply it to ie9.

I also dont see a tutorial anywhere on this site, can someone please give me a very basic step by step guide to installing a theme to ie9?

thanks,

  • We should have an installation tutorial, that's an oversight that I'll correct.

It's been a while since I've installed on Windows, I've asked for step-by-step instructions and will post again if they vary much from what I'm about to describe.

On the theme you want, when you click the Download Now button for Internet Explorer you'll be asked to download a .EXE file. Save that to your computer, then double click that file to run the installer. It should step you through the installation, and you may need to restart IE when it's done.

If you get any kind of error message, it'll help to know what it says and to know which version of Windows you're running (XP, Vista, Win7...).

  • I appreciate the response, but I have done that several times. I did step by step exactly what you suggested a few times over the past week and then again after reading your post. It all works perfectly fine, but when the wizard opens, i click 'next' 'next' 'finish' and nothing seems to work. I've tried runnign the .exe while ie9 is open, then closing it and reopening it. I've also tried running the .exe with ie9 closed and opening it. I've looked thru internet options for apply theme or add theme and nothing. I'm not sure what could be going wrong. I am running windows 7 btw.

    Thanks!

  • It sounds like you're going through the right steps. Here's the exact detail our QA team provided.

    - In the Gallery Theme page, click the Download Now button for the IE theme
    - Either save the executable and then run, or click the Run button
    - In the User Access Control prompt, click Yes
    - In the installer, click Next, then I Agree to agree to the terms of service.
    - Should be prompted that the system doesn't have the required version of Brand Thunder Theme manager. Click OK to install (this may take a while).
    - Once the installation is complete, click Finish
    - Restart IE9.
    - The user will get the following prompt:

    Click Enable.

    - Restart IE9, then be very, very patient, it should show up after a minute or two. If not, restart IE9 again.

If all this doesn't work, then we'll have to think of next steps.

  • Sorry for the delay in responding. I needed help getting the answer and the message back to me never got sent...

    Here's what I learned:

Have the user check under Manage extensions (this should be an option in IE), and see if Brand Thunder Theme Manager for Internet Explorer is listed and enabled. If it's not there, it's not installed. If it's there but disabled, have him select it and click Enable. If it's there and enabled, something else is going on.

So... let me know what state you find it, and we'll go from there.

  • Sorry to piggy back on this topic, but I am having the same trouble with a theme I'd like to run for IE (Windows 7, 32-bit).

I go through all of the steps to download the theme but when I go to run it I get a message where the theme should be saying "Unable to create theme"

Any ideas what may be causeing this problem? Thanks!
